Anna Vassilyeva

Born in 1984 (Nizhny Novgorod) into the family of musician Igor Vassilyev. Under his direction made first steps towards medieval music in her early childhood. First teacher of vocal was her grandmother, Galina Vassilyeva – academic singer, pedagogue, soloist of the Kostroma State Philharmonics. Performed with Consort, one of the oldest national early music ensemble (Nizhny Novgorod, artistic director – Igor Matveyev). Takes part in her father’s musical projects – the Dynasty, Viva la musica, and others.

2003-2009:     studied history and theory of music at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music; at present devotes herself to research in contemporary academic music with prof. Irina Snitkova.

2010-2011:     studied medieval singing under direction of Maria Batova.

Began to play medieval music of Western Europe on authentic harp one of the first in Russia (since 2011).

Performed with the Pfeyffer early music ensemble (2005-2009); from 2011 performs with the Universalia in Re, Labyrinthus ensembles (artistic director – Danil Ryabchikov), from 2012 – with the Uzorika Russian sacred music ensemble (artistic director – Varvara Kotova); also takes part in Oleg Boiko’ projects.

Performs with the Alta Capella ensemble since 2010 (vocal, medieval harp).
