During the 2012/2013 season the Alta Capella ensemble will perform the Medieval and Renaissance Music of Western Europe cycle of concerts at the Central Andrey Rublev Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art.
The programme gives a rare opportunity to get acquainted with the aspects of the Middle Ages and Renaissance musical culture which are not well-known to the general public: early wind instruments, their evolution and repertoire. Playing zink (cornet), sackbuts (early trombones), slide trumpet, shawm (precursor of oboe), organ-positive and other forgotten or absolutely changed instruments is supplemented with singing.
Concerts will take place on 25^th, November, 2012; 27^th, January, 3^rd, February and 7^th, April, 2013.
