Graduated from the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire in 1997 as musicologist (studied with prof. Mikhail Saponov at the Foreign Music History Department).

Studied singing with Eugeny Argyshev, Maria Ganeshina, Elena Devdariani. Participant of master-classes with prof. Egor Reznikov (1993, 1994), prof. Jurgen Schrape (1999), Montserrat Figueras (2001), Ann Az?ma and Joel Cohen (2002).

In 2000-2003 studied medieval and renaissance singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with prof. Kathleen Dineen and prof. Dominique Vellar (vocal) and prof. Anthony Rooley (ensemble). Maria Batova has some researches in early Italian opera. She arranged first Russian performance of Emilio de’ Cavalieri «Rappresentazione di anima, et di corpo» including reconstrustion of it’s score and equirhythmic translation of libretto from Italian into Russian (the Moscow Conservatoire Rakhmaninov Hall, 1997).

Creator and artistic director of the Musica Humana early music ensemble (1994-2000); organizer and artistic director of the May early music festival (Moscow, 1999).

Performed with the Argyshev Consort, Amaryllis, Universalia in Re, Slowo (Basel), La Spiritata ensembles, as well as with the Moscow State University Chamber Orchestra, with Evanсhelina Mascardi, Sven Schwannberger, Arkady Burkhanov, Akiko Suzuki, Oleg Boyko, Asya Grechishcheva (lute), with Margrit ?belakker (dulcimelos), with singers Olga Nazaikinskaya, Andreas Schmidt, Witte-Maria Weber, with Tatiana Zenaishvili, Iya Zakovryashina, Maria Belaya (harpsichord), Rudolf Kehrer (piano), Irena Zeitz and Tatiana Andrianova (organ). At present collaborates with the Alta Capella, Gambrinus, Labyrinthus ensembles.

Her huge repertoire covers music of 12th – 19th centuries including cantigas by Alfonso X El Sabio, medieval condustus and rondels, English lute and consort songs, Italian frottolas, ballades by G. de Machaut, Spanish villancicos, as well as Italian, English, German, French and Russian baroque music, songs by J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert, M.I. Glinka.
